Hello guys, I have the change to buy this shirt, but wanted to know if it is a real german ww2 shirt? An what vallue would you give it?
The shirt has a couple of holes and mendings, these look purple but are dark blue. You can see that the shirt is grey, although it looks like a police color in the overal picture.
Thanks in advance and greetings
Berend

I think that the shirt is period and is of a type that may well have been used by the German military. I do not think that it is a contract, regulation German Army shirt, however.
This last statement may or may not make a big difference with you and frankly it would not with me as long as I knew what I was getting.
Most wartime varieties of shirts were pretty bad (uncomfortable knit like wool and or rayon, did not hold up well and did not look very good after even moderate wear) and many soldiers and most officers bought and wore private purchase shirts when they could get them.

I agree. That's not a Wehrmacht issue shirt. The material is wrong. It might be period, and it might be immediate postwar -- the pointy collars stayed in fashion for a little while after the war.

That one looks good to me. It is also typical of the condition that these are found in, actually that one may be a bit better. They probably looked like this after a week or two of wear, as they did not hold up well!

I should add that the tail or lower part of this one may have been trimmed off some. They are normally longer, but this must have often been period done for many reasons.
Some close up photos of the inside of the seams would be nice.

I don't see any problems here. They are faking these pretty well, however they are generally using cotton. This one looks like the thin spun rayon that the Germans used during on the wartime shirts. The mending also looks like the technique used during that period.
It would probably cost $1000 to fake this shirt that well when one considers that this material would have to be specially made and the labor hours to distress the shirt (and mend it) to this degree of athenticity.
Besides if it was a fake, where are the SS stamps, RZM lables, Pz unit marks and KC holder name tag?

I agree with JDS, apart from one comment. Faking a shirt like this would not be quite that expensive, but the profit margin just isn't there yet.
Thus, get this one with some confidence, because no doubt in a few years time these too will be pumped out in quantity, almost as good as the real thing.

Hello To All,
The shirt in question surely looks period but not exactly to Wehrmacht specifications.
It is important to remember that the Germans used many captured goods, especially from Dutch Stocks. Most Dutch items bore a similiar style and color to German examples.
The November 1941 issue of Uniformen Markt ran an article and photos of a Captured Dutch Military depot and the uniforms within with some mention of the goods being reissued to secondary and foriegn volunteer forces.
Regards,
