Here is ET66 (491) helmet strap marked 1940.
I have shown it before, but here are new photos.
I also see on another forum that they discuss a helmet with no ventholes as a 45modell?
Can that be a factory defect too?
My helmet looks like a sd SS,with paintings probably done by the resistance in norway.(Norwegian flag)are there other who have helmets with defects?please show them.
Does it also exist helmets with decals on the wrong side?
Show them up.

Well, that's real interesting! I'm surprised it would leave the factory that way.

That shell could have been a true reject and not assembled till after the war.

Larry, I saw the helmet while visiting Erik last week. This helmet is NOT post war assembled. It shows true honest wear, the liner, linerband, rivets and washers are all 101%. On top of it, the helmet shows soldier art often found on helmets liberated my Norwegian MILORG.

I found the helmet to be one of the most unique ones I have ever inspected and asked Erik to post it here.

By the way Erik, it was very nice to meet with you and also to inspect your fantastic collection.

Erik

I can only congratulate Essox for finding such an out of the books period example, and knowledgeable Erikofnorway for giving us such a detailed local, historical, information on why such remarkable period variations shell and markings may surface in Norway. Many of us have learned something new.
Sometimes in these forums some helmets are given the quick “post war” kiss of death when at first they do not appear to conform with the known period classical details and characteristics explained in many books.

Hi Erik,
I have an M35 beaded LS helmet completely missing the left hand vent (never drilled), the right side is normal. I'll post images later,
Don

on page 324-325 in RADOVIC BOOK 1 a 42 model without vents is refered as a 42/45 Model.
