I also picked up several cap badges.

This one is the Rikshird cap badge (the equivalent to the SA, I believe):

Here is a cap badge used by the NSUF, the Smahird and the Kvinnehird (the Youth Organization, the small girls and the female branches of the NS).

The NSUF was the equivalent to the Hitler Youth organization, I believe.

This next hat badge was used by the Marine Rikshird (the equivalent to the NSKK) and, I am told, as the early badge for the SS Norge (the equivalent to the SS).

Here is a Smahird arm badge. Smahird was the NS small girl youth group.

The Marine Youth group, Unghirdmarinen, had an arm badge as well.

As you can see here, my missing the MAX was not a total disappointment to me.

Tor-Helge: I got these numbers from the book 'Norske krigsfrivillige pa tyske side' written by Geir Brenden and Derek Schei. It's on page 75.

As for the badge itself, it is still awarded until this very day, it was just made smaller in size (around 1948/49 according to some sources).

Here is an update of what I received at the SOS this past weekend.

My good friend, Morten from Bergen, brought these with him from Norway to add to my collection.

First up is a miniature Frontkjemper badge that, I believe, was for use on civilian dress.

And a closeup of the 830S stamp on the back, indicating its silver quality.

The second item I acquired was an Unghird pin. The Hird was the equivalent to the Nazi party in Norway and was organized, like its German equivalent, into adult, youth and child organizations. The Unghird was the equivalent to the Hitler Youth.

This pin is in silver which indicates Unghird. These pins came in gold for the adults (Rikshird), silver for the youths (Unghird) and bronze for the children (Guttehird).

I mistakenly thought that it was Guttehird until some of my Norwegian friends pointed out my error to me.

And, yes, I know that I posted the previous picture upside down... the sword is always supposed to point up. Sorry, guys.

Here is the back to the pin.

Note the serial number and the 925S silver markings as well as the manufacturer, K Laakso. I do not know what the RP stands for.

The serial number, 343, is researchable and I am told belonged to a Frontfighter named Magnus Nordaas from Bergen. I am waiting to see if more information turns up on him.
