I have just aquired an Artillery Waffenrock that has had the chain stitched regiment numbers very neatly removed from the shoulder boards. Was there a period reason for doing such a thing?
I remember reading that after the war started, regiment numbers were to be removed or covered, but I don't know if this order would have applied to this type of tunic. Bob

Hi Bob,

I am on my way out of the office but wanted to shoot a quick reference to you. Bill Shea has a waffenrock with boards that have the chain stitch numbers removed. I believe he provided an explanation in his descritopn.

Bob, this might be of interest to you! This is my "signals" waffenrock. I thought that the numbers removed were metal but? Regards
