well my box finally picked up somthing, it causes firefox 3.5 to crash repeatedly, the system to eventually freeze up,and need to be restarted, and re-directs my ebay and paypal pages to a spoof site asking for my ATM pin #'s and other personal info...


AVG can't find it, Adaware and Spybit don't get it, if they do it re-installs. NONE of my system restore points will work ( I tried them all...)

I am not sure if I want to shoot it, or re-install the xp disks and start over.

any thoghts?

Thats a tough one. I cannot spot anything glaringly obvious from your running processes. The first thing to make sure you have done is delete all your temp files.

1) IE/TOOLS/INTERNET OPTIONS/DELETE HISTORY & COOKIES

2) Delete all files in your temp directory. To do this you need to enable "show hidden files/folders".

3)LOCAL DISK/USERS/*YOURNAME*/APPDATA/LOCAL/TEMP

Select all and delete.

This one looks pretty dug in. Have you tried running SpyBot in Safe Mode?

I am re-installing this weekend.

I had a nasty one too. Not this one but the only way I was able to get rid of it was with Spyware Doctor from PCTools.

Can you check what addons are running when you open Firefox. In exlorer its tools/manage addons and then select "show all addons". If you can take a screenshot of what is running in the background we might be able to save you the hassle of a reinstall.
