My friend picked up this German Imperial Sword. I believe it's a Court Sword, but, don't know much else about it. The maker is Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Company Solingen. Metal Scabbard, never had any leather on it. Clamshell has and "H" on it. Can anybody give me more information about it? Thanks, CHUCK

Chuck.
Nice degen.
I believe it's a Hessen Beamten-Degen for public officials.
The cypher on the clamshell probably indicates the House of Hesse, rulers of the state. The Hessen "court swords" I've seen, even for lower officials, usually show a rampant lion in this shield.
The metal scabbard, if original, is a nice variation and possibly a replacement for the relatively fragile leather scabbard normally found on this type of degen.
Hope this helps.
Roger
