Lovely medal, the variety of these shooting medals is astounding, the quality of the enamel work is also top quality, was this piece on German Ebay a while back, I think I was watching something like this piece, whatever a beautiful example of a very under estimated collecting sphere. These are usually pretty cheap but the variation is almost never ending.

Cheers

Gary

pfennigs to make for a competition. It came out of an old lot of German items in Canada.

Kursk,

Here's another Art Deco eagle, though, these two pieces are not original to each other as yours seems to be. Still nice to look at and very much different than the imperial-looking birds below.

Does yours have a gilded finish, leastwise, it looks that way on my monitor?

Very nice award!

Bill

hi Bill
yes, gilded over copper or brass i think..
mine is a 9th place shooting medal,it could be that yours came together for a higher placing..mine is from a competition in 1933.Is yours marked?

Kursk,

The medal is marked Schützenkönig - Berrenrath -1936.

That's another added bonus to the large majority of shooting awards and decorations - they're all usually marked in one way or another on the reverse to commemorate the event.
