You just have to look and be prepared to snap it up. This piece just came out of Germany, arrived this morning, apart frpm the knot it's a great complete rig. I very much like the belt hanger with the leather tab, stops the snap clip from wearing on the uniform, belt is in good condition, the green felt is a little mothy on the inside of the belt but everything else is very nice. Nicely marked WKC, not in mint condition and missing the midle acorn on the reverse grip but still a nice hirschfänger never in a collection before.

Nice set-interesting that the colors of the leather items all seem to be different. This is not uncommon as they just didn't seem to care about that. They almost never polished any leather items either-strange.

IMO the frog once has been green. Those frogs tend to bleach during the years. I do own one (which came with a de luxe EICKHORN DJägerschaft) which is exactly brown like the one shown here, perhaps even lighter. But parts of the inner side and on the back (where the front leather has been bent back and sewn down) are green. Will try to do pics later. Baz69, congrats on this untouched grouping. It is a pleasure to look at.

Interesting observation Wotan, are you saying that all Forestry and Hunting Koppelschuh from the 3rd Reich period were green when first issued?.I have over 50 of them from all periods, many from the 3rd Reich, some are green but many are not, I carefully examine every one I get in and I'm pretty sure some of them were never green.

Gary,
As always another great find. The detail and condition of the blade etch is something to behold.
