Sorry Wolf but it looks to me like a fake from the Czech Republic. The bridge catch looks wrong for one thing. Jean Pierre has details on the measurements etc. but I don't like it.

It IS a reproduction and it is guaranteed to be one without any need of additionnal photos in this particuliar case. I am sorry but I did not say what were differences still remaining for the last five years (this reproduction - like many others - was upgraded over the years but it is still not perfect) and it is not today I am going to start. I hope collectors understand this.
It should not be difficult to convince a dealer selling a reproduction to take it back. No matter what, this buckle was not originally obtained from a reliable source. So, any dealer in the chain of its distribution should have had some doubts, even minimal. Also, many dealers know by now those close to perfect 155/43's are widely available (they are around since before 2000) and chance to get one is higher than chance to get an original. So, if the dealer is honest you will have your money back. If he is not, showing him point by point wrong details will not change a thing since he could call it a "unusual variant".

Maybe one thing you could try since this one looks like one of the first fakers made: take a regular WWII German combat belt and try to slide the buckle (fit) to it. If it does not you have your explaination (earliest reproductions had this feature).

I agree with Jean Pierre, fakers use Forum's discussions to improve their production. About originality nothing to add, it's a well known fake ! Regards Ric
