Greetings, has any one had experience with scanner problems? Mine suddenly started acting up. It drags the whole computer down to a crawl and takes a long, long time to scan an object now. I tried a different USB cord, no change. The USB port is OK the camera worked there. The devise is not locked. Any thoughts would be of much help and appreciated. --dj--Joe

Try turning the scanner off, unplugging, uninstall and re-install the drivers on your PC and reboot scanner. It sounds like a driver issue!

I agree with Degens, this is a driver problem-software problem. Try re-installing drivers and scanner software.

It does sound like drivers, but you may want to check the scan resolution first. If it is set to the highest resolution for the scanner, you get very slow scans and monster files

I agree with the posts above - if you still have problems, please reply with the make/model of your scanner.

Thank you, gentlemen. I've attempted to reinstall twice now. No luck so far, perhaps I have not ferreted out all the old software programs. Will do some searching and try once more. It was probably just luck that I had it installed correctly the first time around. It is a RadioShack USB Flatbed Color Scanner Model 25-3053 it has proven to be an excelent devise. Regards,--dj--Joe

It could be device failure also because most scanners are not the best made device's IMO.

I read through the documentation for this scanner and it states a couple of times that certain settings can cause scans to be slow, especially those settings that affect high-color or high-resolution scans. Do you remember changing any settings to increase color-depth or resolution?

I do not recall changing any settings, however other fingers could have. I will have to check. Could upgrades from spyware detection sites effect performance?

Sure, they could affect performance also. Bring up Task Manager when you try to scan something and see if the processor and/or memory climb. If you're not familiar with Task Manager, send me an email and I'll walk you through it.

I wish to thank you all for your assistance. I have not yet had any luck getting this devise up and running. Checked out a couple of new ones. Will give this one a couple of more tries before I purchase. I doubt it would be cost efficient to get it serviced. Again, my thanks.
