I got this in a big buy a few months ago but still have no real good idea of what it is or to when it dates. I was told by one person it is a Boer war era German short sword.

Hi i have one very similair german artillery sidearm "falchion" circa mid 1800 cheers .

While a large number of this general type of short sword were carried by soldiers in Artillery Regiments. That is not an absolute, because they were also carried by some soldiers in Infantry Regiments. A W�rttemberg Infantry short sword this model could nominally be from the mid to late 19th century. And is marked to the W�rttembergisches Infantrie-Regiment Nr. 180 puts it at the later end of the scale. In the overall scheme of things they are generally harder to find than non-W�rttemberg brass hilted types. FP
