I use a Canon SD1000 to take my photos....It's a great small all-around camera, with a great Macro setting for extreme close-ups of maker marks, etc..... Some photos that I recently took with it can be seen at: http://daggers.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/6740015654/m/7030044555This camera can be found online for around $170.00, and is available for about the same price at Best Buy at Circuit City stores, if you have one near you...Happy Birthday! Cheers, Bob.

Depends what you are trying to do. I use a Sony Mavica FD92 that is 7-8 years old and you can get on eBay for under $100. Uses either floppies or a memory stick up to 128MB. Not good for vacation pics or distance stuff, but close up can be as good as you want.

Dave ... WOW... That is a Super Shot, using what most might conclude is an outdated Camera!
(The Photo quality MUST have a lot to do with the guy taking the Photo!)
1. Do you use a tripod, or some sort of stand, for these types of close-ups? Txs, Dave/dblmed

3 biggest tips I know of is,,, 1,Use a tripod...and 2, no matter how steady you think you are some cams are so sensitive even your finger pressing the button will make the shot blurry,,so use the timer! And 3, use natural light. there's nothing better than a cloudy day

Here is a picture taken with my Kodak Easyshare DX7630. Not an expensive camera but it does a nice job. Also took it on a trip to Alaska and came home with over 700 pics stored in the memory.

This picture was taken with my little Kodak in Denali National Park. These bears were nearly half a mile away. This taken with the standard zoom lens. BTW, this picture was taken the same day Katrina hit New Orleans in August 2005. Notice the snow on the ground>
