I really am not the HJ expert (or anyexpert for that matter) but I believe the knife looks original. My only concerns would be the scabbard, which appears to have been re-painted a flat black, and the condition. HJ knives are common enough that you should be able to find several in far better shape at a good price. If I were you I would hold out for somthing better.

The condition of the grip insignia doesn't match the rest of the dagger. I would be suspect.

Some metals corrode differently, and the HJ hiking knife posted seems to have seen some better days probably having been stored in a fairly hostile physical environment. Causing what seems to be (from what I can see) severe pitting to the scabbard under the (re)paint and corrosion evidence elsewhere. As such it is one that might be harder to dispose when a better example comes along - and I would be inclined also to pass. FP

Dear All,

many thanks for your answers!!

The price is Euro 150,00 (aprox Usd 180,00)

But I will pass and look further for a good HJ Knife which I can afford.

Again thanks!

Rene

Russ , you mean the grip plates are replaced !-but look at the rusty rivets . Around the insignia is the typical assymetric shape.I think the knife is good may be in bad condition .
Regards.

I think Russ is right look at how the rivits are nice a shiny on the back side, that would worrie me if on side shows rust and wear and the other side is shine that doesn't seem right to me if the original rivit were removed and new grip plates were installed the old rivits could be reinstalled but the back side would show signs of removal the obverse side probably would not. I think this piece was restored IMHO.

The front rivet closest to the crossguard looks a lot like the other side which is rusted. The rear rivet does not, but I think somebody hit the rear part of the grip with something like a wire wheel (also affecting the grip diamonds judging by their appearance). But at $180.00 U.S. it would be a pass in any case. FP

You can only do so much with an image. But here is a slightly closer view showing how some of the grip diamonds were eradicated by whatever was done to the grip.
