This came on a pioneer battalion shooting prize sword I bought out of an old collection last year. Can anyone identify it ?

Appears to be Saxon in origin, either a sword or bayonet knot depending on size. This is based on green thread interwoven in strap and lack of a stem.

Yes, a Saxon Portepee used on a variety of edged weapons. It has the distinctive Saxon crown on the knot and green and white coloration.

Jonathan,

How about a shot or two of the piece the knot came off of?

Jonathan,

I'm sure more than a few sword buffs here have watering mouths now. Outstanding piece, thanks for sharing it.
