Looks good to me, though I would be very reluctant to buy anything by anybody with a "ZERO" feed back. They would have to be first sent to a third party before I parted with any money. Not often you see such fine examples.I should add that better pictures are needed to determine authenticity especially of the short deluxe Eickhorn hunter.

Just my first impression--- the better pieces are post war. Better pictures could prove otherwise but I doubt it.

WoW, You have Eagle eyes Houston Eek Eek, I'm not keen on the last shooter with the stag grip but the others at least look fairly decent, I agree only clearer pictures would say for sure though. The scabbards don't look great on the hunters, a little flat, colour as well is dodgy and there do not seem to be any lines but that could just be the picture on all these points.

Gary--Not really-my eyes are not the best anymore Cool Eek but my hirschfanger memory is still OK. Wink Look and you will see Eek---the grip emblem on the deluxe hunting looks tiny-stickpin?--the grip also looks too big on the lower part not fitting the ferrel. The leather looks flat and the scabbard might even be painted. The mini looks post war with three acorns on the grip ? ( I have never seen a real one like this)It might be good though. The best knots are fake-the silver middle ranks being gross size and the ball the wrong shape. The strap looks too wide. The green one has the slide and the basket weave stem--bad. The gold shooting is post war with probably the upside down 35-41 Eickhorn stamp seen once in a while and the wrong type of grip rifles. The other silver shooter looks OK and the other plain ones OK. I still could be wrong on some things with better photos-

This auction appears to be a real tempting treat for hirsch collectors, a potential treasure trove of multiple interesting pieces. But being hawked by a new seller with a "0" feedback as Houston points out, I always act carefully in such situations since what's the motivation for a trickster to do the right thing? I'm not saying this person is good, bad or indifferent but it's just a point. And a $200 shipping charge too, ouch!

I would suggest at the very least a third party to have the pieces sent to, and certainly some sort of escrow payment pending verification of authenticity. This group has the potential of going either very well or very poorly so the temptation is there but I would just hate to see someone get stuck for a lot of shekels.

Gary pointed out the zero feedback and he is right. I would evaluate the pieces for the seller and buyer. But--I need better photos or the pieces in hand.

Not taking paypal and the 0 f/b is the key to leaving this alone, as there is no better warranty than paypal's.

That, and of course, the $200.00 shipping.

I shipped a 5+lb package to Argentina just Friday via Airmail for $33.00. It cannot cost 6 timse that to ship basically the same weight the other way,

Finding a deal like this for $455 total just aint gonna happen. It would be interesting to follow up on this, say, a month from now and check the sellers feedback then.

That's odd. It ended with what appears to be an ebay cancellation. I wonder why? Confused

Nothing that I could see in the auction was the least bit offensive to anyone.
There were no German WWII symbols at all.

Hey Ju88,

I agree there were no offensive symbols or even any reference, implied or otherwise, to banned items. I wrote to the seller while the auction was active. I asked several questions about the condition, maker marks, number of items, ownership history, delivery to Scandinavia, etc. I received a reply with a short sentence saying only that the auction included 8 daggers and 1 skinner. You would think a serious and ligit seller would have provided more info. However, the next day not only was the auction apparently canceled, the seller was no longer registered. What are the odds of these two things happening at the same time? If these items appear again on ebay, be extra, extra careful in dealing with the seller (peruvian or portugese, I forget). Regards, Dane

Dane,

The seller was from Argentina, which one could assume may contain a sizable amount of TR items given the amount of the 'displaced' German population residing there, so the seller may have actually had them in their possession at one time.

It may well be possible that eBay recognised the seller as a previous scammer, and cancelled the auction on that merit alone, but it is a mystery to me.

Myself, I was scared at the opening price and the $200. shipping fee.
