Hi guys
What does this mean?
"1/JR17 I"
It's stamped on a bayonet frog I'm looking to buy.
The "JR17" is 17th infantry regiment, right? What is the "1" and the "II"?
Many thanks
Chris

Thanks Raymond.
I just realised, I typed in the unit stamp incorrectly.
It should be: "1/JR17 II"
So, first batallion, Infantry Regiment 17...
..what about the "II"?

II would be the second Battalion. The 1 is for the Company.

Does anyone have any information on the 17th Infanterie regiment?
Have tried feldgrau.com and a few others but nothing solid.

17th Infantry Regiment was part of the 31st infantry Divison. The Order of Battle book doesn't have much in the way of history on the division. Only that it was destroyed in June 1944 while with Army Group Center and was disbanded on 18 July 1944.
