Terry,
The smaller frog on the left is usually found on the KS98 while the larger frog is usually found on the S84/98.

The larger frog is also proper for a Police Bayonet.

So the black over the brown isn't a problem?? Would you find the felt on the back of a Firemans bayonet.??

Terry,
All leather is brown before it is dyed. Sometimes regulations changed (i.e. early brown or later black Heer frogs) or the soldier put shoe polish on it. I have seen these private purchase KS98 frogs with black, blue, green, and brown felt backing. If the fireman was wearing the green Feuerschutzpolizei uniform I would expect any felt on the frog to be green. If he was wearing the Prussian blue Feuerwehr uniform I would expect any felt backing to be blue or black.

Orpo, That's a great looking frog and knot combo. Thanks for the info on the felt frogs. I've got about 50 black patent leather frogs or so floating around on and off bayonets and I don't believe any of them have the felt. Terry, Really nice looking pair of frogs, I presume they were SOS pickups
