i'm not a collector, but have spent some time looking at a number of posts on this forum. very interesting, and thanks to all for sharing their pictures / knowledge ...
my father brought back 3 'knives' and a luger from his grand tour of Europe in '43, '44. i have posted about a Yugo bayonet in another forum here and now would like a little info on a sword.
it appears to be M89 style, but i haven't found a photo with the same handguard - many have a folding guard, this one doesn't.
it is engraved 'Braunschweig Husaren Regt. No 17' on the blade and the other side has a skull and crossbones. research on the regiment has given a hint of it's age.
