And Schmauser ? What became of him ?

The Russians caught him and repordely hanged him in December of 1945.

And the sword ?

Well, I hear they got that too ... 60 years later.

Interesting information, what became of this sword ? Was it sold, any ideas as to the price ?
I heard that the Ribbentrop sword recently changed hands for region usd 200,000 and would be interested to hear the difference in value for a piece named to a less 'infamous' individual.

Thanks
Jonathan

The only thing that I heard (as opposed to know for sure) is that it went to a Russian collector.

Very nice sword if I can say that. Was it you said (!) that the sword was presented to SChmauser or are there any individual engravings on the sword?

My Grandma which is still living knew Heinrich Schmauser personally, because she was married with Schmauser´s son, Hans-Joachim (died 1944). So I am looking now for any informations, fotos, personal belongings of this familiy.

regards
Florian
