Can anyone identify the stamping on this blade? I think it's a Reich Provisional Marine proofing, but I'm not really sure what years this particular style stamping was used. I think we can rule out 1919 to 1921.

I checked my 1919 & 1921 variations.

Neither have this type of Eagle?

I have to assume that this is from late 1880 to 1899. I will keep researching.

Still looks to be a 1921 dagger,with a closed wing ,stick bird over a M

The cross-guard looks to be Alcoso.

Do you have a photo of the scabbard bands ?

Looks like the original owner replaced the black scabbard with the brass decorative scabbard when it was resurrected for wear by Naval officers.

T E: The early Weimar crossguards looked pretty much the same with the diamond on the reverse. Alcoso was the only one who didn't change that design throughout WWII.
