Yes, very nice.
There's a couple of SA's on there that are reasonably priced too.

Very annoying when you have to e.mail the seller in order for you to get the price.

I asked, it's $ 4500. Is it reasonable?

That's about right for a trully near mint SS EM with a common trademark. The big dealer's names would usually ask about $ 5000 USD for such a piece and without the vertical hanger. However, it is difficult to tell the exact condition of his daggers as they are a bit blurred.

Pat, I don't agree - I think a fellow could shop around a little and find a much better price than $4500, even for a NM piece! I'm sure a few here would disagree with me, but I believe these few are the only people wealthy enough to afford such a price tag anyhow . . . But then again, maybe I'm just an old "Tightwad" when it comes to "pricing" these things nowadays? Brad P.S. What does everyone think about the rest of this fellow's items for sale? Did you see the early AH cufftitle in white? I've seen a lot of these his goods hanging around for quite a while, and I'm curious to know what everyone else has to say . . . .

I really like the Eick hunting spear. I have seen it in the Eick catalogues, but have not seen its like semi offered before. I asked Mike what he wanted for it, but he wasn't sure how much or even if he wanted to sell it at all.

I've been buying these things for years and would quite happily put down the usd 4500 if it's near mint, these top conditioned pieces are extremely dificult to locate!! Jonathan ps/ guess it helps that the exchange rate remains so favourable too

That's the driving force behind my progression to becoming a "Tightwad" here in the States . . . some day when the exchange rates come back into reality, I'm sure you might not be so interested to drop the cash so quickly - especially when that $4500 USD becomes $4500 British Pounds!! Brad

Being a trader currency, stocks, bonds, etc. Try to imagine 1 dollar = 33 pence. That is where the dollar is headed shortly as the Federal Reserve Printing press keeps working. The dollar is backed by nothing and will eventually go to zero as every other fiat currency has throughout history. The US needs disband the Federal Reserve and bring back the Gold standard.

Sorry. In my haste I meant 2 dollars = 33 pence.

Nolan,
That must have been GREAT for you . . .
Edwardo,
Sounds like Nolan is going to have a chance to relive a memory again soon (if he isn't already!) . . .
I think I'm going to be very disappointed in the coming months watching all of you fellows "across the pond" building up your collections!

Are these minty Hammesfahrs really up to $5000 now? I have a NM piece, and I missed the one mentioned above for comparison. What a great investment! I hear you guys on the exchange rates, we are getting killed against the Euro also Look at what the dollar was against it when it came out, and look now. I wish I would have bought about a million or so then! Over the past year alone, I have probably lost over $2000 to the bad exchange rate, USD to Euro, and that's just buying TR merchandise!

Brad when I was a kid in the 50's we had the old currency and a coin that was worth 2s 6d or as we knew it a 'half crown' the equivalent of one eighth of a pound, it was also commonly called a 'half dollar', if that came from the fact that there were 4 dollars to the I dont know for sure, but it's a thought. and yes it is very lucrative at the moment for UK collectors to shop stateside although I do believe you have higher wages and cheaper goods than over here.

The higher wages are a product of more dollars being printed. The only reason we Americans have cheaper goods is because the Chinese peg the Yuan to the dollar. They have started to decouple from the dollar and the goods(all made in China) are going to start getting more expensive. Chinese goods are junk anyways. I wish I had bought Euros before the twin towers went down. 83 cents to the dollar. 9/11 almost broke America down. The Federal Reserve had to inflate housing to stem/delay the Next Great Depression. Things are not as good as the media wants Americans to believe. Wages are up but not as much as the dollar is down. Real Inflation is running at 8-10%. Food and Energy are the main culprits. Anyways. The Pound Sterling Rules.

Edawrdo (and Nolan), You've got that right! International Exchange rates are definitely not good right now for Americans, that's for sure! But what is potentially about to be delivered to Americans is something not yet seen in a couple of generations - this "World Economy" that our Politicians have been preaching for the last Decade here is truly setting itself up to be our next Great Depression! I hate to say it, but it may take this kind of economic disaster to get ALL of the World back on track to EQUAL standards of proper form of Trade Value . . . . Uh Oh!! Sorry to continue this thread into "muddy waters" again, but I think we all need to revert back to the topic at hand here - the WONDERFULL Hammesfahr SS dagger we all are drooling over!! Brad P.S. I am intriqued by the economical discussion and all of the various viewpoints from around the Globe, but I think we should ALL start another thread outside of this one to continue the discussion - I'll particpate (although I'm not sure what else I could contribute!) if anyone is interested in getting it started (Nolan)?

Skyline's right, and I think I know what he means far below the surface, not just a superficial "joke". Sad to say, but over the next two years (at least) the US is in real trouble. We've seen nothing yet! Tax and spend, run away like cowards with our tails between our legs..... Where do you think the dollar is headed then? Weaker defense, higher taxes = stagnant economy, less money in the citizen's pocket, etc, etc, etc. "turn the other cheek"?? Sure, the "war" in Iraq is a bad deal, but why? Might we have been trying so hard to appease a certain segment of society that we were afraid to deal with the situation swiftly and severely? Could have been done in a year. Would the US be viewed as mean and nasty then? Perhaps for a time, but would we be more respected and feared, and viewed as the last real superpower (which we are)? Yup. Might we have been so concerned with the criminal's rights that we got bogged down in a nasty quagmire? Wooops! I shouldn't continue this, sorry. Not the place for it. It's just that there is a "real" reason for all this, as well as a "perceived" reason for where we are at. The "perceived" reasons led to the recent changes in DC, big lessons will be learned (the hard way) over the next two years, I guarantee that! If a new thread on this topic is started, someone please post the location. I'm in! So, how about the Hammesfahr, anyone here end up with it? I'd like to see pics!

OOOOps, off we go again into modern politics.
