Thank you gentlemen ! You're right, it is also one of my favorite edged weapon and wouldn't even trade it for the nicest SS EM. The Teno Junior being even much more rarer than any SS dagger.

Finally got a decent example. This was used VERY little. Most likely due to being owned by a reserve TENO unit member. Still has some original lacquer finish with 100% plating NO bubbling.
Just like Pat it took me many years to find a decent example as these did not hold up well. I also wanted knot and hangers to be original to the dagger. IMO it makes it that much more of a challenge.

Mine is currently in the bank vault, but I do have TWO of the NCO knots. I have been trying to find all six for years. Most will not let a Knot go without the dagger, so it is hard to find them, especially loose. Ron Weinand

Beautiful TeNo Hewer Rig Pat! CONGRATS!
Also, all of the other outstanding TN NCO/EM Hewers and Hangers and Portepees/Troddelen are 'eye candy.'
Ron, I too have been chasing the mystical "TeNo 6" for a LOT of years, and have 3.
NOW, I've learned from Bender / Littlejohn's "Defending the Reich" that we have to find 8 TN Troddelen, not just 6!!! Yikes!! (At, at least $800 - $1,000 each, that is not chump change for ANY collecting.)
Attached is the page from Bender / Littlejohn's "Defending the Reich" which shows all 8 of them. ...Roger can use the Advertizing, buy the book - it is super!!!... (Seems like the RED and the ORANGE got us confused due to color fading & previously poor TeNo documentation.) Now we know - and the hunt goes on!..... Txs, Dave/dblmed

The TeNo Officer's Dolch and the TeNo NCO/EM Hauer/Hewer were introduced in 1938 (if I remember correctly.) They had been actually designed and drawn up by Paul Casberg as early as 1936.)
The new TeNo Sidearms were announced in the DDP (Die Deutsch Polizei) issue of Jan 1, 1939(which isn't surprising, since the TN was a Police 'affiliated' Organization since 1937)
Here is the Cover of the Issue... Txs, Dave/dblmed

Photos of the TeNo Hewer in wear don't surface too often, so when they do - grab them!
This Photo (a bit blurred) is of a TeNo-Mann in 1940 in France, wearing the Hewer (no Troddeln seen, by me).
What is unusual is that he wears the TeNo off-white Drillich Top, along with the TeNo Field-Gray Uniform trousers - worn by the usual 'outside of the Reich' TN-Einsatztruppen.
(I doubt that this was an 'official approved' Uniform combination - but here it is in wear, as photo-documentation!) The photo also confirms that the TeNo troops took their Hewers with them, when they went off to war (in France, at least).

This photo is of a proud TeNo Dad with his Daughter, out in the snow for a Photo.
He's wearing the classic TeNo dunkelblau Uniform and he has his trusty TeNo Hewer at his side.
(Again, there is no troddeln present - so, if the TN guys weren't wearing their troddeln, maybe that is why it's hard for us to find them today?) Txs, Dave/dblmed

Pat, There are even fewer Photos of the Hewer, with the Knot. I can only think of 2, TN Knot in wear, Photos. There is a photo of one in Littlejohn's book, and... Ed Augustine posted this Photo on 20 June 2007 on the TeNo Thread, on the Police Uniform Forum: (Home of the TeNo) http://daggers.infopop.cc/eve/...744/m/2280097494/p/6You can see a TeNo Knot on the Hewer in Ed's Photo. The 2nd Photo is from Bender/Littlejohn's "Defending the Reich" (Buy the Book!)
Photo is credited to Clive Davis, who has the most outstanding TeNo all-around collection that there is. This photo also appears in Col. T. Johnson's latest book as well. Dave/dblmed

Glad that the photos were of interest.
For those of us who are interested in the TeNo, there is a brand new book out which has over 200 pages of super TeNo information, with Photos, Charts and TeNo Items.
It is "THE BOOK" for those interested in learning all about the TeNo TN. The book is:
Uniforms Organization and History of the German Police: Vol. 2 By John R. Angolia and Hugh Page Taylor
Vol. 2 covers 5 of the major branches of the Polizei organization: TeNo / TN - Technical Emergency Corps Protection Police Traffic Police Municipal Police Gendarmerie (including Motorized branch) and
The book will is huge, at 808 pages & 1,083 photos / illustrations. (More to See and More to Learn!) It's a real winner...
http://www.bender-publishing.com/UniformsOrgHistoryGermanPoliceVol2-2.html
I got a chance to read the Chapter 19 TeNo portion of this book pre-publication. The degree of Detail and Explanation, as well as the depth of previously unknown (unseen) information, and well as historical documentation - is without any comparison. This will soon become 'THE' Reference.
I've got my order in for a couple - (one to Use and one to Archive) - and I can't wait for their arrival! ... Txs, Dave/dblmed

You got that right Eric! Just ask DblMed on how scarce it is to find "standard" TENO insignia anymore. Come to think of it, it wasn't around in any volume back in the old days either. Very Nice Full Rig Leader there Eric. There is a scarce dagger that along with the Postschutz should be a lot higher valuation than what they are today IMO. Great Triple treat there from Wotan! Pat...super killer Hewer... Dave, (dblmed) has unselfishly shared all his finds with us... a big thanks to you sir. ..and ED..it was good to see you too at the SOS. As it was to meet Jim Modena, Ryan Sellick and all the rest of the regular crew (too many names to mention). it's you guys that bring "life" to the artifacts. The people behind the presevation of the history. -serge-

Patrice... Please excuse all of us as TeNo Afficianado's in hi-jacking your superb TeNo Hewer thread!! Pardon tout! It stands on it's own - Exquisite! Thanks Serge & ALL the Guys. A Lot of us as collectors appreciate the beauty of the TeNo Daggers and Hewers, and their varied Accoutrements. [I have read that the TN Dagger was the ONLY TR Dagger to have 2 official designated hangers? ?True?] Here is a photo of a 1940 - mid 1943 TeNo Kameradschaftsfhrer with his TeNo Dagger in wear. Unfortunately, we can't see which type of hanger he is using for this studio pose. (He also wears the Ultra-Rarely Seen TeNo 'cut-out' sleeve Eagle, NOT the normal Triangle patch - on his Field-Grey TN Uniform - but that is a story for the TeNo GDC Uniform thread.) http://daggers.infopop.cc/eve/...3059744/m/2280097494Txs, Dave/dblmed

Bad scan , only two leaders, but with the rare (and original!!! there are about 70-80% faked ones around) leather hanger and proper belt loops. Regards,

Nice set of 2. To the best of my knowledge there has been no photos of the leather "working" hangers documented? Obviously they were used, Are there any documents?

Wotan ...Splendid pair of TeNo Officer Daggers, and FULL Accoutrements! CONGRATS! Yes, the leather hanger is more difficult to locate, but also those belt loops are tough to find also!
Eric ... TeNo documentation, of all types, is very slooooooowly coming to the surface. Littlejohn (RIP), on page 532 of his "Defending the Reich" showed period color illustrations of the two types of hangers (but, that is the only true period documentation that I am aware of.)
TeNo Leather Hangers in Wear ...Since Wotan kindly showed us 2 super TeNo Officer examples, then a photo of 2 TeNo Officers, BOTH of whom are using the Leather Hangers, fits in well. (There may be other photos? T. Johnson's new table book? But the following is the only one that I know of, but I am sure that others will gradually surface.)
Sorry for a bit blurry, as I took this from a much larger photo in my Tn collection.
The date is mid 1942, inside of Schnbrun Castle - Vienna, with TN / TeNo Landesfhrer XVII Walther Junecke (later to be TN Chef der Stabs and GenMaj. der Schutzpolizei) on the LEFT - - - and - - - his 'Adjutant' Bezirksfhrer G. Jordan on the RIGHT. Both = Using Leather Hangers. ...Txs, Dave/dblmed

TN Leather Hangers in Wear - Close Up
The Hangers passed through a Uniform pocket slit - so we can't see Wotan's super belt attachment!

Makes one wonder if the leather hangers were reserved for higher ranking officials?

Tom Johnson and I just bought Dick Page's collection and it contains some TeNo items that I will post photos of in the next few days. Some really interesting items to include the first pattern TeNo Leader's Dagger with no TN inspection mark on the blade and serial number 0021. Also, he had both sets of hangers (Brown Leather and Fabric) with a nice TN hewer. Ron Weinand

Here's my small contribution to this great thread. Sadly, I haven't got any of the fancy hangers for a fully dressed up Teno for a "night out".

Pat ...Your TeNo Officer's Dagger is Outstanding! All of the accoutrements will come in time.
Here is a Phenomenal Robert Noss Photo, which he had posted on the TeNo Insignia tread. It is also the Featured Photo for the TeNo Dagger - in the new book, "Police Vol. 2." Thanks to Robert!
Best ... Dave/dblmed

Thank you Dave. How in the world do you find all of these great pictures ? Were your relatives in the Teno organisation during the war ?

Very nice dagger you've all. I'll post picture om mine tomorrow. Just a question: It seems that there is a big interrogation about the frog of the TeNo hewer dagger. The one with the triangle above the metal clip. WWII construction or post war? If it's post war ...why? This "triangle frog" is for sale as authentic by a lot of reputed dealer... Photo attached. I hope this thread about TeNo will help me... Thanks

Thanks Pat ... No relatives in the TeNo - that would be great! After trying to collect a 'bit of it all' for 20 years, I narrowed my interests to SS, TeNo and Schuma about 8-9 years ago. I started buying every TeNo TN Photo, Photo Albums, Documents, and TN Items, that I could afford. I got lucky with finding some great representative, and a few unique, Photos.
Last year I bought the TeNo Landesfhrer Walther Junecke collection from his family in Germany. He was also a Police GenMajor. I'll be posting a number of his special items in a few months when I get them all organized. (Some of his items are shown in the TeNo Chapter of the new Book, "Police Vol. 2" - so it is fun to share them with the collecting community.)
Eric -100%, the portepee tie is wrong! Should be wrapped around the lower edge of the grip only. Most of the higher Officers in the TN were ex-WWI army guys, so he may have picked up some bad habits! ... Txs, Dave/dblmed

Matarese .... Here are some good threads about the TeNo EM/NCO - Subordinate Hangers, full of LOTS of information about them. (1) Posted 18 March 2008 18:55 by Houston Coates http://daggers.infopop.cc/eve/...660030345#6660030345"...About 20 years ago a whole lot of these [TeNo Subordinate] hangers with the triangle appeared on the market place. They were all in mint condition and had an odd smell to them. They were rather cheap and flooded the market bringing the prices of all types down for quite a long time. All types were very difficult to sell--everyone had one. Before that we had never seen this type. They do have some minor differences when compared to the type without the triangle. I am not saying they are fake but you can see why I prefer the other type...." (2) Another Informative Thread on TeNo Hangers, and their differences. http://daggers.infopop.cc/eve/...886/m/7670099263/p/1Best... Dave/dblmed

Thanks a lot Dave for these very instructive thread. It seems that it's the H&Co 37 pattern with triangle that is doubtful. My frog is with the triangle...but the clip is assman marked.... This frog was on a 100% authentic dagger. Any comment?

Thanks Matarese, Yes, there was a LOT to read in those threads about the construction & "look" of the TN Subordinate Hewer Hanger. The Assmann 'clip' does make one feel much more at ease, but...
I have not found (Yet!) any photos or documents which actually 'show' a close up of the specified construction of the TeNo Hewer Hangers.
I think that it is best to defer your Question to Ron W. and Houston on these, as they have seen the time-line of items in TR Collecting. Txs, Dave/dblmed

Oliver ...EIN GROSSES Willkommen zu GDC! A BIG welcome to GDC! Your Konvolut is a spectacular & it is a very significant TeNo collection. You have the TeNo Hewer of TN-Mann JOSEPH STERF (It is soooooooo very unusual to find out who was the owner of the Daggers / Hewers that we collect! This is great news.) You have letters from the top man of the TeNo, Chef der TN und SS Gruppenfhrer, Hans Weinreich & from a TN Landesfhrer, Walther Junecke (who became the #3 man of the TN, as the Chef der Stabs in Berlin in 1943! All 3 letters were sent to your TN-Mann, JOSEPH STERF! WOW. Congratulations! and you have the Wehrpass of TN-Mann JOSEPH STERF! Since it is a Wehrpass & not a TN Soldbuch, it is quite possible that he was one of the TN TeNo men who were taken into the HEER in 1941. They formed the Technische Truppen of the HEER, which was commanded by Erich Hampe, the former #2 man at the TN TeNo! Some GREAT history is to be found in your Konvolut! Amazing and THANK YOU for sharing your wonderful Konvolut with us! Oliver, I have re-Posted your items on the dedicated TeNo Thread on GDC at: http://daggers.infopop.cc/eve/...44/m/2280097494/p/18The Collectors at that Thread would love to see these - and hopefully to see the pages of the Wehrpass of JOSEPH STERF as well. TeNo Insignia, Uniforms, Documents, Visors, Caps, etc., are discussed on that TeNo thread. Again, WELCOME, and thank you for sharing with us some very rare items! I have attached a Photo from my collection of TN Landesfhrer Walther Junecke in 1942, wearing his TN Officer's Dagger, the GOLD TN Buckle and Brocade, and his Greatcoat with the rare 'cut-out' TN Eagle. (This photo is also shown in the new book, German Police, VOL. 2, Bender, of which Chapter 19 [200 pages!] is devoted to the TeNo. Great new information!) ...Txs, Dave/dblmed

Matarese, I want comment your hanger: In my humble opinion and due to what I have seen up to now, your hanger is not period made. It shows a certain construction mistake, obviously made by the manufacturer who either did not have an original by hands or a disambled one and therefore did not know exactly how to put it together. and there is also another construction feature I could observe with fakes. No regard to the triangle stitching as I have seen this on originals and copies as well as these without the triangle were observed on originals and fakes. No comment on the snap as there is a lot of original surplus (although I personally also do not like special minute details of the Assmann mark but I am not too experienced with it). Just my opinion, sorry that I cannot say something positive. Regards,

Thanks Wotan for your comment. It'll be very instructive for all us to know the red flags on my hanger. What are the "construction mistake" on this one? Have you an original to compare?
Thanks. JC

Matarese, I totally do understand your wish for knowledge but, please, also do understand that I in no way want to support fakers in spreading this certain minute knowledge. I do have 4 (imo) original ones, one with the triangle stitching and three without, and I have seen some other imo originals and all have certain features the (imo) doubtless copies do not have. I think some of my hangers are shown in this thread already. I am also aware that these imo faked hangers are offered by some high end dealers but I have also heard that they took them back without question after complaint.... Regards,
wotan, gd.c-b#105

I understand your position. It'll be nice to send me photos of your hanger with the triangle & show the difference with mine. Private message if you prefer. Don't worry, with my work & my wife I've no time to do fake leather hanger in this time...

Von Rader??
I think Id have remembered owning one?
What else is cool on that shelf is the Goring Cup behind it and the pocket watch. The both belonged to LT Warren Eckberg (the guy that "liberated" Goring's baton) then lost it to the FBI in 46. His son called me and sold me the last piece his dad brought back..
I have a link somewhere on the forum on the whole story.. just search ECKBERG and it will come up.
