well bad part is that this is only pic I have to go on, other bad part is that I only have about 24 hours before I must make my decision to buy or not. I know it's not much to go on, currently I'm working on a photo of the back, but judging from this picture alone, what do you guys think, real or repro? any opinions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Bwanek and Robert, you guys have just save me some more money! I appreciate it. If you don't mind how could you tell, what are the markers that lets you know that this is a repro?
These reichsfuhrer are for sale also, but I'm guessing that they are fake as well.

Sadly, the tab on the uniform as shown isn't mine and I forget the original source.
To see one original pattern type of the RFSS tabs, see the cover of the book by Ulric Of Englnd titled,"SS Leadership"

Does anyone have any examples of any original tabs with the backing that looks more like cardboard than the normal buckram backing you see on most? I have heard some were backed with a material that resembled cardboard but havent seen any posts with pictures. Thanks for any information, Marty.
Looking for anything related to KC winner Johannes "Hans" Briegel and the Fsch. Pz. Gren Rgt 2 "HG"

Mackadoo;
Those Reichsfuhrer tabs are made in Pakistan! There are some remnants of the classic white dots just where the black cloth has ben cut on the reverse. You might have to magnify the photo a bit.

I believe David Delich still owns the white rfss tunic that John posted. The tabs on it are real but were reapplied to it because they were in the pocket. Of course they had to have been Himmler's and went to that tunic because they could not have gone to anything else. David

Violin, What do you mean they had to have been Himmlers? Please explain.

So in theory, the set that John posted are the only ones? other than maybe a replacement set?

There could be, in theory, as many sets as Himmler had uniforms, including overcoats. But as Robert said, they could only have belonged to Himmler as these tabs could not have been worn by anyone else. Thus any set of real tabs could be placed on a real Himmler tunic and it would be simply an act of restoration and not an attempt to doctor or augment a lesser tunic. The shoulder boards were unique as well I believe and thus would identify a tunic as a Himmler tunic originally. Therefor you could put back on the set of real rfss tabs and know that you had the tunic back the "way it was" pre 1945. How many sets of tabs exist that are real today? I am sure there are those who can say how many are known to exist but there could always be a set somewhere in a collection that no one knows about. David

For sure Himmler has several sets of his collar tabs made to fit the jackets of his wardrobe. Its another thing how many has survived the war and can be prooven to be real.

You will see some collar tabs with carboard backing, but you most certainly will never see a high ranking SS collar tab backed in cardboard..
I think it would be safe to say that there were a few sets made..only a few have come to light ..there may be others hiding out there..

I know of at least one other set of RFSS tabs, and a single that exist out there.
There were some nice SS officers tabs at the Madison Military show, but they were well out of my budget.

Hello all! As to those Himmler tabs pictured. I've owned two pair of originals. One was the pair on the white Himmler tunic and the other was a loose pair. In both cases I had high confidence in their originality... and so did every other experienced collector that saw them.
All I can say is that, although they are somewhat close, the ones in the pic are in many ways different from the originals I'm aquainted with.

Hello Bob. You confirmed what I had heard that the White Himmler tunic had had the collar tabs reapplied at some point. SO, we know there are at least two full sets out there. David

Howdy! If memory serves, the tabs on the white tunic were screw-back, so reapplied really doesn't mean anything in this case. Dave Delich could tell you for sure. It's been quite a few years sence I saw it. Believe me, that tunic is a real jewel! Bob at: http://www.germanmilitariacollectibles.com/
