Hi Judas, I can only offer this 4 strand aig, for comparrison. I cannot count the strands on yours, but I'll take your word that it's 3.

As we saw on that thread, they were produced several ways. IMO, your aig appears correct. The slide knott, the ferrules, and the buttonhole attatchment. Until such time as somebody can produce evidence to the contrary...

PS, I use Photoshop...

Paul I dont know that one. It could be US. I have a few books with references to lanyards and aiguilletes, but I don't know of a book soley dedicated to them. Good question...

Hi here is one for you. What if there are no strands, just bullion twisted wire like the twisted grip on a Luftwaffe second pattern dagger handle? Plus the tips do not have oakleafs around the top. The very tips are acorns. Any opinions? Thanks and cheers, Ryan

Are there accepted variations of augilettes by maker or do they all conform to most part with the examples pictured? My examples are still sewn, do not re act to UV and do not have strands as a portepee would have but rather resemble the twisted wire bullion of officer chicords and again the wire wrap on a Luft dagger handle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. cheers, Ryan
