Hello,
I posted this thread/question also on the helmet-forum.
I'm asking opinions of this kind of WH sidecap/ Schiffchen. It has no ventilation holes and aside of the cap there are pointed flaps. I never saw this type sidecap before.
Is it a regular issues WH sidecap ?? (or maybe from a captured country and the insignas are mounted later on ? )
Can you see from the pics if it's a original sidecap ?? (the eagle/cocarde looking original to me)
It is for sale at the dealersite of mr. Helmut Weitze and he mentioned on his respectable side "it is a 1941/1942 sidecap, almost untouched, original cap acquired from a private housekeeping/person."
Saw anyone this type before ?? (I'm very curious about it if it's a regular issued WH cap ))
regards,
regards,
Thijs

Hi, I have not seen a side 'turn-up' flap like this one has. Again, without handling it, it is too difficult for me to form an opinion. Also, it is way too 'minty' for my liking. I much prefer well worn stuff.

Hmm..interesting cap. It's certainly not your standard issue heer schiffen. Notice the double line of stitching around the bottom as well.
