Nice daggers, I saw a Army in antique shop that had a black grip. Didn't know if it was right or not, do you know? Most I've seen are color of your's or had a kind of speckled grip.

Aleksandr, Naw, I didn't go for it. Was about a year ago. I did a google search and couldn't find any info. on black grip one but ya never can tell sometimes. Bought an Army similar to your's from Paul at L.S.T. Plan on obtaining the Air Force next, think it's a little more rare than others I've read. Anyway, really like your collection and hope I can come across as nice of examples as yours.

I think Bob Rodgers also had one with a black grip. I thought at the time someone perhaps colored it.

Of all the dggers I saw at the russian markets, there were no black grips.

These daggers are now selling for 300% of what they brought just 3 years ago. I started with 26 of these and now only have 10 left including those in my collection.

So, if you are thinking of buying one, I would do it now.

Also, don't worry about belts and hangers. I have at least 20 extra sets. Big Grin

Jim-Hummmm, That's interesting. I also wondered if maybe the grip had been dyed, but would bakelite or whatever material it was cured from, back then, accept a dye? It wasn't painted, I could tell that even though I didn't handle it. Looked closer to a flat rather than glossy black, maybe because of plastic not wanting to take to dying job. After getting onto the subject here, I surfed some Russian sites again and still didn't find any(w/Black). Maybe one of our Russian associates in the know will enlighten us, cause I'm still curious as hell about it. I did notice the price increase also. Even though the dagger themselves are kinda plain (scab. have the artwork) I have always liked them. Like you said, time to buy one is probably now, as I've read that Russia is stopping alot of old artifacts from leaving the country. Can anybody else verify that?

Mike,
These could also be a special KGB unit also. I have never personally handled one.

Here are a few of mine

OK Guys. The black grip is a self-made replacement. The only color post 1940 russian daggers came with where yellow-orange varieties as you see here on the posted pictures.

Buy the way there were tzarist russian daggers (for aviators) which had black grips.

2OKCMike. Yes you are right. in fact now it is against the law in Russia to export out of the country historical artifacts, including orders and medals and of course any edged weapon.

Does the first Navy on on the left have a catch button?
If not, it's a must have for a collection of russian daggers.
And then, of course, General's, Diplomat's dagger, and a couple of award ones. Big Grin

So as not to confuse anyone about the Romainian Police dagger.

My own suspicion is that this is just a regular dagger that someone nickle plated and called a police dagger.

But, an interesting piece.

Thanks everyone for showing your daggers, I have one dated 1982, are these later dates just tourist items therefore not collectible?
