Here is one that I have been meaning to post for a while, a nice looking dagger with what appears to be Wingen fittings. Tapered tang and a little plating loss, nothing out of the ordinary until you get to the makers mark. As far as I am aware there is only one other army dagger that has come to light on this forum bearing this TM and that is on an outstanding aluminium example. Note the absence of the Siegfried scroll over the top of the pack emblem. Although this mark is occasionally found on other sidearms it is rare to see on an army and is rated a 9 on Denny's list. With the help of other members it is believed this transitional TM dates to around 1937. Also take a look at the head of the eagle and notice the taper from the front to the rear of the head, the rear is straight across which to the eye gives an appearance of a Herder or Wingen crossguard, the front however is identical to the generic B.
I apologise if the macro pictures below are annoying but I was intrigued to see how much detail would be shown after resize.

VERY nice and rare find. You just keep poking at me, don't you? Big Grin

Glad you posted as this isn't seen very often and I'm interested in the make-up of this type. EPack made some nice and very interesting stuff to drive collectors nuts. Eek

I know of three like this, your's being the 3rd.

AND as always, your pictures are Very skillfully done, showing that kind of detail.

Thanks guys,
JR, a compliment from the maestro is praise indeed, I have my teacher to thanks for some great tips Smile.
Denny,
I knew you would appreciate see-ing some detailed photos, its all in the " little things " for us army guys. I still cant master the differences between generic B / Wingen and Herder no matter how close I go with the zoom but coupled with the other fittings I think Wingen is spot on. When you say you know of 2 others, do you mean the TM or the fittings in general on a Pack?.

Ah yes what a great example. A super find - I would add that to my collection in a second. I collect this maker mark and look long and hard for it. It is rare on any dagger. I do have it on an -army-2nd model luftwaffe-rad EM- Rad Officer. Looks like nickel plated wingen to me. Denny I think a 10 would be appropriate for this one.
