I picked up several Imperial commemorative medals and this was included. Most of the stuff was Austrian so I'm guessing so is this. I'm not sure if it's Imperial as a couple of things were post WWII. Any ideas on what it is and it's time frame? Thanks.

Back side. The stickpin is a nice addition.

Raymond,

I haven't seen this design before, but it's a very nice decoration. I'd agree it's Austrian in origin, too, and would say a Kriegerverein if you held my feet to the fire.

Is it fairly heavy or is it of a lighter weight material?

A very nice pair and thanks for letting us have a look.

Best!

Bill

My best guess would be for post war (post WWII), because of the form of the pin and catch.

Resembles the wappen of Salzburg Austria.

Bill and Joe, thanks I appreciate your thoughts on this. the medal weighs 31.9 grams. here's a couple of quick shots of some of the things that came with it. Commerative and service type medals. A couple of 3rd Reich and some coins also but didn't photograph them. Let me know if there's anything you would like to see better photos of.

Joe, this all came together from a women who is from Salzburg and during the war was an opera singer. I got it all from a friend of hers. I keep meaning to call her to try and get more info on the stuff especially the photos would be nice to put a name to.

Salzburg fits in with the wappen design of the veterans type badge.

Raymond, if you do not mind could you post the black wound badges to this thread?

My friend and I were thinking it might be a traditions badge. The "spoon" I think is a mace.

There are no prongs to attach it though. Maybe unfinished?

Here's another strange one. Looks like a 3 headed fire breathing dragon.

It's interesting, the mace could be a different style stick grenade.
It could be unfinished or made to be sewn on.

Never saw any thing like the three headed dragon emblem before.

Referencing the Cased nonportable award, there is a WELS Austria.
Bill, WWII can give you a better idea of what it is for than I can.

Raymond,

A nice little collection of goodies there! Smile

The table-medal from Wels looks to be in great condition and was an award given at an agricultural/farm/trade show. It doesn't say anything more specific than that so it could've been almost anything related to those fields of
interest. Something akin to one of our own present day state-fairs.

Nice.

Best regards!

Bill

Paul, I think you are correct. I looked in the Olympic books I have and they are wearing this patch. there does seem to be several sizes used so I'll have to do more research on it. Thanks, I originally just thought it was from the N.S.Reichsbund Für Leibesübung (Physical Training Union).
Bill, Thank you for the info on this table medal. I think everything belonged to her and family members.

Paul is correct..the smaller size went on the actual competition uniform, whilst the larger one went on the walking out blazer..
