Hi all - This is being offered as an army visor, but it has a Customs wreath, and an army eagle that looks replaced, as there's 2 prong holes above it. I'd like to know what others think it is/was.

This is a more accurate representation of the cap's colour. Note the lack of piping above and below the band.

The interior looks too new to me, and is that soft plastic diamond not post-war? Thanks for all responses. - Bob

Badbob,

Probably too late to answer but here goes anyway. Hard to say if the cap post is war or not but if it has a soft plastic sweat shield it probably is. As for the insignia, if it were an authentic cap the eagle is the wrong type and as you say in the wrong place. Customs had their own unique eagle with the wings turned up at the end.

Regards,

Gordon

Bob,

I agree with Gordon that this cap certainly appears to be postwar. In addition to the insignia, sweat shield, and lining, the band looks very wrinkled and odd. I would stay away from this one.

i think this cap started out wartime..at least some parts of it...the colour of the green points me in the direction of the 50's..

I agree with Diane--BGS. Sweatdiamond is plastic as well. Gabardine is typical for the BRD--higher rayon content.
