I had seen similar numbers in 98Ks coming out from Scandinavia (forgot if its Sweden or Norway), would it be stamped by the authority there ?

My Norwegian marked 84/98's have much larger stamps - huge and not understated. But these may be later markings than Henrik's

I’ve seen similarly marked items from time to time. Some of which were on German Police (commercial bayonets) added after they were manufactured w/o serial numbers. But not on what appears to be a military issue bayonet, and I’m inclined to agree that the markings are postwar. FP

Henrik, one rare thing about this bayonet if the markings are post war and my guess too is that they are, and that it is still matching!!! You never see a post war piece that was used and is matching. Could Denmark of put these stamps on it?

Here's mine that was bought from Scandinavia. As you can see, the frog stud was stamped 28, but the guard was 29. The bayonet in question is a police marked unit. The bayonet looks very new, I believed that it has been a-r-s-e-n-a-l refurbished post war, and the 28, 29 stamps were probably an inspection mark stamped after the refurbishment.

John

I agree rework matching is not common, but i have a nice Noregian reworked 84/98 that matches German marks and Norwegian, very chuffed with that one, but the guy i bought it from had several, the Norwegians it appears just marked up the original German equipment with little other work

Sharp eyes Andy ! The scabbard is a 38 Horster. The bayonet has ACS scales stamped on ricasso.
