Greetings,

The reply from Robert is in the right direction, the tunic is for the railroad, in this case the Bundesbahn or postwar Reichsbahn.

These tunics follow the pattern of wartime examples pretty close, but the large tag inside is a very strong indicator of postwar production.

Cheers,

Hello,

Could you provide a scan of the label? The flash has obscured the details.

To my knowledge postwar railway tunics did not have "French cuffs". After 1940-41 this feature was discontinued to save material.

Does the tunic have a vertical seam between the top and bottom pocket on each side? If so, this may be wartime issue.

A scan of the lable would really help.

Yes, there is a seam between the top and bottom pockets.

The label is pretty washed out..

I can make our some prining in blue ink, and what looks like something stamped in red at the bottom of the label.

I've also noticed on the left sleeve (upper arm) the was a shield shaped patch, there at one time.

Bahn Tunic,

Thanks for looking here Diane, now that you mention it, it does appear to have had shoulder boards.

Therefore I wish to change my impression to that this tunic could very well be wartime. Too bad the label is reported as washed out.

Cheers
