I could be wrong but I believe what you have is a post war manufacture of an HJ type knife with a parts scabbard. These are seen by several different makers, the main difference between these and period HJ knives is the missing HJ diamond and probably some quality.
FYI, C. Jul Herbertz, Solingen-Merscheid started manufacturing knives in 1868 and were still in operation as recently as 2002 although Fisher's guide does not attribute them as having made period 3R stuff. Hope this helps.

I can say that the scabbard is the definite post war manufactured item we see with many post WWII parts pieces. Other than that, I have to totally agree with Billy. Looks like modern German Boy Scout knife with replacement emblem.

I have to disagree with you about the scabbard Jim, this type of scabbard and many like it were used during the Imperial period and later, look at Pg 351 of the Imperial volume for a scabbard similar in design, look also in the Gebr Gräfrath catalouge of the 3rd Reich period Pg 4 for another similar scabbard. There were so many different scabbards produced for small knives it would be almost impossible to tell, especially when they have some age. This type of scabbard has been used postwar as well so the knife might well be postwar also. What I am saying is "I" do not to dismiss anything on just the scabbard.

That HJ style of knife is found with several different grip inserts. I agree with Gary about the scabbard also. Could be Postwar, but could also be prewar - and I believe that style knife was produced before WWII....? May be a mismatched scabbard though.

Thanks for clarifying the scabbard guys. I will not dismiss daggers in the future just because of this style dagger.
The only place I have really seen these style scabbards (except longer) is with the old 1939 marked post war daggers.
Again, thank you.
I would stay away from this dagger however.
