That was called either a Long Ram or Ram Tube setup by Chrylser and I drove a 59 Plymouth Sport Fury with this setup. I wonder what a car with this original configuration would bring at auction today as I've never seen one for sale.

Looks like that's a Cross-Ram setup.

I don't know if there are other interested parties or this is the apropriate place to post this but I've always been fascinated with high quality models of exotic cars. The example below is a 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa Spyder.
These metal kits are made by an Italian company Urago at 1/18 scale:

Jim,
Have you seen CMC,s models?
German Co. but made in China!!!
They are superb.
I have a pre war Audi Gran Prix
and a W126 Merc.
Hundreds of parts. The Audi has over 1000??
I think if you Google you will hit them.
Very expensive.

I am not familiar with those but I will look them up. How about posting some pictures?

Note to Moderator:
If you want to split this off into a new thread it's ok with me.

I thought I would add something about 250 Testa Rossas. RM Auctions sold one last Month in Italy and it brought $12,100,000 which is a new world record for an automobile.

I guess this will be my last sports car but I have to show off the Hubertus rally grille emblems.
From the first Pontiac “Fire Bird” to the last all steel Chevrolet “Z 28” and now my final fling with this piece of thunder they call XLR.
Sincerely,

JohnZ,

A neighbor owns it and he described it as the "longhorn" ram tubes. That's all I know. If you thought this was a pure stock car...you need to subscribe to a few more hot rod mags! Surely you were joking?

As a long time Corvette owner I can add a little to what Mark has stated. The Z06 is one of the fastest production cars in the world and not much can even stay with it 0 to 60. It's also IMO a bargian since it's faster than cars that cost double or triple their price.
N.B: The Northstar engine is that Caddy can be quite a performer as well and was the basis for Cadillac's last assault on LeMans. It to bad IMO they don't offer a "Z06" version for sale to the public as well.

Mark,
I'm not sure what year but I think Chrysler did in fact, offer that "crossram" option. I think John meant "stock" as being how the car came from the factory as opposed to being put together at a later date with factory parts. Sort of like taking the 4 barrel carb off a 220 hp. '57 Chevy and replacing it with a Rochester F.I. unit. All you need are the F.I. fender signs and, Voila! - you got yerself a 250 hp. fuelie!

Mark is right on the Z06. As an original owner of the first year Z06, I have been sold from the beginning of production. Dollar for Dollar, just the best.

Here's a link to an article about Chryslers Ram Induction system from the 60s. It never really caught on.

I hope its OK to post this here but I couldn't resist. Here is a photo of my daily driver. 1956 Buick Century Estate Wagon. It was in Bismarck, ND. and I live in Bayonne, NJ(just acros the river from NYC). I took a Greyhaound bus out(just over 2 days) and drove her home!! NO PROBLEMS. I put 2000 miles on her in 23 1/2 hours(Not that I was counting). That was 6 years ago. Have some problems with her now but she still gets me wherever I want to go. Hope you enjoy the photos. Peace, Mark

Thanks

The wife said that the Teno em I had my eye on was selfish; hence the Falcon, but after all the restoration I think she may have second thoughts! We sure had fun in it at Cruisin the Coast 2010 ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3t3o3x8Vnw
), and got great responses from tons of people who had fond memories of this particular FORD. Oh! And you should have seen the RAT RODS at CtC 2010!

You godda love the 90s retro cars as with all other classics. Hope someone else out there likes it, I do thats why i bought it....

Here I am sitting in my 89 Corvette waiting to pick up a NASCAR driver for a parade lap in Phoenix,2009. General Motors had always provided parade cars for the races until this year but due to economic conditions declined to do so. Our local Corvette club was asked to provide Corvette Convertibles by Phoenix International Raceway and I ended up driving car number 1. I'm sitting below the grandstand with John McCain and other dignitaries above me as the drivers are being introduced. This,to the best of everyone's knowledge, was the first time in memory private cars had been used for parade purposes at a NASCAR event. It was so popular with the fans that PIR has continued to do this ever since.

I am not that much into vintage cars as they are priced a little too steep for me, but there are those cars that really catch my attention.

I was able to drive a 64 Pontiac a friend owns and though they are rather old already, with proper maintenance, you can really make them appear like they are very well new.

They are sort of a challenge to keep up with though as you really have to make it a point to check on it ever so often.
