here is my 2003 gt and my new 2006 gt on the day of trade in.i did like my 03' but i love my 06'.hopefully will be doing some mods to it this summer.the 06' has 300 hp,the 03' only had 260 hp.more is always better Big Grin

Beautifull ride Mark, but I'm disappointed that ford is at 300 hp with these stangs. I feel the minimum hp should be 450 and an option for 600.

The baddest of all..the 2007 Corvette 505 HP
Z-06. It kills my 425 HP Roush supercharged Mustang. No contest. Then again so does my 2002 Z-06 with "only" 405 HP. Corvettes, properly specced are simply deadly.

Johnny, I had a 1985 GT FI Quatrovalvole and all my Corvette buddies kicked my butt. Now for pure great looks...the Ferarri was probably my favorite car ever. The service bills were outrageous though! I miss it. You have a good looking one there.

I guess I have to contribute as well . . .

These were tow of my past favorites - sometimes I miss them, sometimes I don't! The good thing about my letting them go - I sold them to friends that agreed to give me first shot at "buy-back" if they ever do decide to sell them!

This is the first one - it got me where I wanted to go with a little nostalgia and class . . . an all-stock 1934 Chevrolet 3-window coupe. It had 21,000 original miles, original paint (yes, original), no rust or any previous damage, and had been stored VERY WELL by the original purchasing family for 30 years - it was in unbelievable condition for it's age! It even belonged to a Doctor that had Dorothy Lamour as a patient all through her childhood! So much history, and so much fun (especially with my girlfriends that enjoyed the mohair seats!) . . .

As you can see, I had a very difficult time keeping my Dad out of it too!

And this was one of my other favorites - it got where I wanted to go just plain FAST!

It had a 302 cu. in. block that we had bored and stroked to 427 cu. in.! I know it's hard to believe, but it can be done! We used a real Cleveland head arrangement, and with all of the other tinkering we did, it was a VERY tempermental, but also a VERY potent beast!

The scary thing about this car, is that it's so hard to control yourself when you are in the drivers seat - and if you ever wreck, or someone else ever hit's you, you're almost guaranteed a fresh set of wings (or horns!)!Fiberglass body just does not give you a very warm and fuzzy feeling when your traveling in excess of 100 MPH!!

I can tell you this - not much else gives you a "rush" as great as I got the day I paid to do (3) laps around the Kentucky Speedway! I was politely excused for exceeding the 80 MPH limit behind a "pace car" - but you only live once, and I did pay my "entry fee" after all . . . .

John J the California special is a GT option they had the CS (California special) in 68 and brought it back in 2007.Here is the description I copied from the Ford webpage.

It’s all the things you want in your Mustang GT plus a little extra inside and out to make it “special.” It’s called the California Special and it will be available this summer.

To get the California flair you start with a GT Premium package. The California Special then adds unique California Special Dove or Parchment ""GT Leather"" trimmed inserts and Black with Dove or Black with Parchment interior color scheme. The front and rear floormats include the special Mustang badging.

Exterior accents include side scoops and unique front and rear fascias. The front fascia has a larger air intake and is actually 1.5-inches lower than the standard GT. The rear fascia is also cut differently with less tuck-in.

The polished aluminum wheels are 18-inches with a bright machined rim and are wrapped with Z-branded all-season tires.

Bright rolled exhaust tips and unique tape striping add the finishing touches.

I have always been a GM guy ('58 Factory F.I. Impala hdtp., '63 Vette coupe, 409 c.i. Impala Super Sport, etc.) but when Ford introduced this baby in the 1960's, I fell in love. At that time, you could buy a street version for $18,950 which included a trip to the Lotus plant in England where they were being manufactured. 19k may as well have been 19M to me.
Now the GT40 is back in production. Take a look at this.

If I remember correctly Denny Ford had to get 100 built so it could run at Lemans in the production & prototype categories. The new ones are even better and there's several here in Scottsdale but,unfortunately,not in my garage. However,I did have the pleasure of doing some laps at Road America sevral years ago in one of it's competetors the Ferrari P4. The GT 40 easily makes my all time favorite list right along with the Ferrari Daytona.

Jim, I'm pretty sure you're correct about the requirement of 100 cars to qualify for LeMans. Remember how they cleaned up at LeMans? Wasn't Mario Andretti one of the drivers? Or, was that when they cleaned up at Sebring? or Watkins Glen? or??

You are correct that Mario Andretti was one of the drivers and BOY did they clean up! The Lemans officials had to change the rules in subsequent years to make the GT40s less competitive.

I started going to Auburn in the Late 60s when I lived in Ft. Wayne. Boy it was a lot different then. The Krueses would probably rather this be forgotten but they started out as good ole boy farm auctioneers and just happened to be handy when the ACD Club decided to have auction in conjunction with their meet.
They used to have a car corral* where anyone could put their car on display for free. I remember turning down a 1960 Pontiac Bonneville convertible that had been a factory show car for $1500. It had swivel bucket seats a tonneau cover over the rear seats and all sorts of special features. If I remember correctly it was a 4 speed with an injected engine and had a metalic paint job that would knock your eyes out. The car to the best of my knowledge has never re-surfaced. I'm still kicking myself over that one.
*This of course was before real greed set into the car hobby much as it has in the militaria hobby. These auctions today are just an opportunity for one middle age old fart to try and impress all the other middle age old farts in attendance with how much money they have to waste.
