Just received this dagger today. The grip is virtually black, lower crossguard is unit marked, both crossguards are marked P and S, I can't see any markings on the tang. The blade has been ground and there is the smallest amount of the maker mark left that I can't tell which one it is.

congrats... beautiful piece.
I am happy to tell you that the 'mystery' of the SA (especially Nm) numbers has been solved by Dr. Martin Schuster, 90% certain. I have his research paper with me, which I commissioned him to write, and will share it as soon as he sends me the final version including a copyright statement i asked him to include. The 20 pp. paper is fully footnoted to OSAF directives from 1934-444, SA Nordmark publications, etc etc. I am extremely excited. Stay tuned. Hope to post a link to the paper here next week.

Gustavo... I can't wait either.
Seany... yes, I purchased it from a UK Dealer and GDC forum member.
I'm also interested if anyone can tell me who the maker is?

You tell us part of the maker survived and then show us 12 pics but skip the pic of the remainder of the maker? Mike

9 chances out of 10 that is an Eickhorn mark. Dowlnload some images and make a comparative study and you'll have an answer. Let us know what you decide.

I've been discussing this with Nats and we think more than likely it's an Eickhorn too.
However, it's in the Nordmark group, it should be either: Felix, Grah, Knecht, Krumm, Pack & Sohn, Wusthof or Weyersberg Sohne.
Taking into account that it's a ground Rohm, then it should be a Pack & Sohn for this group but the little remainding maker's mark doesn't resemble that mark...

Most Eickhorn Röhms are bench marked, There maybe some that are not but most I have seen are even the SS Röhms by Eickhorn.

The chances are that it is an Eickhorn. I base this on the knowledge that with the early Eickhorn pieces, the placement of the Alles fur Deutschland inscription on the obverse of the blade, finished at a point some 40mm below the lower crossguard. There were a couple of other manufacturers who did this, but the majority of pieces (take a look at a Pack, for example) have the motto finish at about the 25-28mm position. FJS
