Hi everybody! I have the possibility to buy this dagger, but I am not too experienced on these etched ones. Would you write your comments please, OK or not?

Janos, imo I am seeing a lot of "red flags" and I think we have here one of the recently by another forum member mentioned upcoming VOOS etch fakes. IMO the dagger is a spanish copy. From where the blade does come I do not know. I do not want to go into detail for non supporting any fakers, but the overall appearance of the dagger, the shallow etching and much much more does let me think it being a total fake. From these pics, nothing does conform to the by me known for sure period VOOS etched daggers. As ever, a final in hand inspection is necessary for a final judgement. I believe if you use the "find" function of our forum you will find a lot of threads and pictures concerning this certain dagger. Nevertheless, thank you for showing, I think it is a very valuable input for learning.

Obviously bad-one of those new ones. The blades I had seen had been transferred to original daggers-a lot more scarey--and I'm sure quite a few collectors have already been stabbed with one of these bad boys--and don't forget--there are Army versions too-blue and gold too! I'm sure there will be some at the SOS and all other shows too-- very soon.

Damned, that's real scary. Those fake blades are getting better and better. Like Houston said, they will certainly be at the SOS show and I'm certain that many new-collectors will get burned and that's a shame.

That is scary Houston. How many of these have you seen? The case is obviously post war. Kind of neat, and I wouldn't mind having one, but I have never seen an original case for a 2nd Luft before.

This is the third one I have seen in 3 months. The first one was an Army. The etch was on an old -kind of blunted original blade. It had been lightly buffed to make it shine more and then it was covered with grease to further obscure the detail. The same guy had a real Luft dagger with another type of older fake etched blade--he got stabbed twice-and was astounded to find out the Voos was a fake-I was too as this was the first I had seen--but not the last-that's for sure. Do not buy blades that are COVERED WITH GREASE OR OIL-wipe 'em off GOOD first-that's the oldest trick in the dealer book-just like buying a dagger with a crappy photo on good 'ol Eban.

Thanks for the quick comments! It was offered to me from Germany, and I am very happy to save my money. I hope these pics will help for other new collectors to recognise and avoid these daggers. Thank you again.

I've seen 2 repo'd VOOS blades now. 1st an Army and now this 2nd Luft. It should put everyone on alert for what's coming out of the world of repo stuff. I get edgy when I see something from Germany and that may just me me..... Used to be a mere tiptoe through the minefield. Now it seems to require a lot more to navigate safely through the mine field....... Beware.....AND educate yourself, quickly....... Denny

Did VOOS ever use this style makermark on their etched blades? The one I have uses the makermark in an oval.

Two of the three fakes I have seen had the oval TM which is correct but was not correct on these two. This one has a TM like a dress bayonet but the Ges Gesch is not correct in any case. They just keep making different ones trying to make it more difficult to tell.If you have one and are not sure-post it here or take it to a major show and show it around. Compare it to a real one. You will find out.
