The postage to and from between the UK and US was about the same that Vern charged. Very reasonable prices considering the excellent work that Vern carried out. As you can tell, I'm very happy.

They usually run around $25 plus shipping. If they're not split, then $20, if really crushed, $30 And thanks for the compliments!

I just need the lower fitting. If it is really crushed, it may be best to send the entire scabbard so it still fits when it's finished Email for my address. Send me a photo for small dings and we can work something out. I can also offer a quantity discount and multiples sure save on the shipping

WOW!!!! Fantastic work! And that repair adds a LOT more than $25 to the value of the dagger! Obviously WELL worth it!

Yes I have. I used sheet nickel-silver to make the two halves and soldered them back on the fitting. I've also had a few that were so crushed one side broke off while it was being straighened. Made it easy to reshape and solder back I use several tools I've made that go into the ball from the inside of the fitting and are used to tap the dents out against a lead block.

What is the best way to remove the lower scabbard fitting? I don't want to bugger my screws while trying to un-bugger my balls. ---wait, that didn't sound right...

Clean the slots with a knife blade and use a fine jeweler's screwdriver to remove both screws. Then wiggle the lower fitting back and forth, and it should just come off

Vern is a heck of a craftsman but I believe I will pass on letting him put a soldering torch to my balls. Couldn,t resist the pun. I am a bad boy.

Don't forget that Vern has moved to North Carolina and the old Virginia addresse is out of date. Email him for the new one.
Also, I would wait a bit as he is still getting settled in the house. Dave

I'm still getting settled and caught up on some personal projects but should be ready to go by mid/late March. I found a number of things that I picked up and planned to fix "someday". I figured now would be a good time to do a few of them

Old thread but I'd like to get in touch with Vern. But being a new member I don't have access to his profile yet.
Is he still doing ball work?
