Oh, I think I'd take 'em. They are kinda cute. I think they'd beat some faded plain blade any day.

I cannot tell for the Damas blade but the double engraved blade is definitively fake.

The damascus does not look like a Reddick blade. Hmmmm....
Anybody have opinions on that one?

New fakes are being made and sold almost every day-its very hard to keep up as they keep making changes in them-always trying to come with something you have not seen-the fakers are almost as bad as the terrorists--or maybe worse

It is my hope that when Fred and Craig publish their new version of Reproduction Recognition that a yearly update supplement to this is also forthcoming. I too expect the forgery market to remain active with the ever spirialing up of dagger prices. Jim

Yes, I heard about this mythical book on repro recognition. Haven't made any bets yet as to the year of publication. Pobably wont live long enough to see it anyway.

I think you've been hearing about it for about a year Anyway, work progresses. It's not something we're rushing to print - we want to make sure everything is as correct as it could be. We have a goal of having the draft finished by year's end, and ready to send to the publisher.

Also, with respect to damascus, it is the safest bet, when opting for a damascus piece for your collection, to go for a Tiger or Fredricus marked blade, with a P+D tang marking. These are the safest pieces to buy. Next would come any piece with a raised TM, such as Eickhorn or Alcoso. Then, would come an unmarked-tang piece, but with the P+D damascus pattern. Be very careful when buying a damascus piece that has strange tang markings, or has a pattern that does not match the P+D pattern. Such pieces may be real, but should be approached with extreme caution.

I don't know about anyone else but this looks like 2 separate daggers to me. One pic shows the reverse crossguard with the Alcoso TM, the other shows the reverse crossguard with the damascus pattern blade underneath. Couldn't be just one dagger we are seeing here.

mvogel I agree. 2 seperate daggers here. One a pseudo-ALCOSO and the other (damast)? Might be good, but seen with the "ALCOSO", I'd have a tendancy to think otherwise. Denny
