DOES ANY OF YOU OUT THERE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS DAGGER, AND THE CREST THAT IS ON THE CLAM SHELL. IT IS TOTALLY UNMARKED.

Waterlo Nice cutlass. The crest is for a Garde unit, an elite group within the Imperial German Army. The cutlass is a relatively common subordinate forestry cutlass. Together, if all original, a very nice variation.

I think Roger has it spot on, these Hirschfängers are quite rare, I have seen the garde star affixed on both the clamshell and grip.

There were two Guard Jager units in WWI. They carried a number of different types of Hirschfangers-most are not issue but private purchase pieces.
