lOOKING for any info on a luft pilot named HUGO KUOBEL with two dots over the U. Looks like he was a LT flying a ME 110 in the MED area. Got a photo packet he sent to someone with the caption SO YOU WON'T FOREGET TOO QUICKLY WHAT I LOOK LIKE and signed. Some nice pics of him in flight gear and after an award of either an EK 2 OF KC.

HI Paul, it seems to me the man on the picture is a pilot with rank Unteroffizier. I have scanned for you a page from one of the best (if not the best) period reference on uniforms, Eberhard Hettler, Uniformen der Deutschen Wehrmacht (Berlin: Otto Dietrich verlag, 1939).

The officer shoulder boards for Leutnant - Hauptmann would be, similar to the Heer, solid silver.

Yes ok.

Are you sure the name is Küobel? I couldnt find anyhting by this name even in Google.de

there is one Kübel listed in the unpublised 1944 list, none in the 1945 one. of course it could be that he was (for example) a Reserve officer, in which case he isnt listed in any Rangliste
