I just picked up this DLV dagger. It is made by Gebruder Heller of Marienthal. It has the silver fittings, and is very good shape. But heres the kicker, all the leather is missing on the scabbard and grip. The grip is a wood grip,I guess it the original that came under the leather.I am not to familer with these daggers can any one tell me how much its worth without the leather. Its missing 1 bottom fitting screw also.I am really more into the army and 2nd luft daggers so may be willing to trade if some one is interested. Thanks for your imput on this dagger.

Based upon the photos, I would say that the handle is a replacement. Just a hunch. The piece is an excellent candidate for restoration, and would probably find a super home with Manfred Vogel or Vern Bryant. I would say that the value is in the neighborhood of $450 to $550.

Craig, you are right. This is a perfect candidate for restoration. Applying the leather to the scabbard shell and the grip is relatively easy and there is very little work required on the fittings and the blade. In this case it doesn't really matter if the handle is the original one or a replacement.

Craig beat me to it.

I suspect the original grip was in bad shape and the dude made another. Really well done, but a good patient for Herr Dr. Vogel Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin
