From what I can see, the blade looks fine. This makersmark is correct and is found with and without the motto.
As always, I suggest to post pictures of the complete knife. This blade has been polished heavily, so maybe there are other points of attention..
Best greetings,
Herman

Hello Jan,
I am surprised to see the larger diamond on this early knife, so you should check if the reverse grip rivets are ok.
Other than that, nothing to say, it looks like a fine early HJ by Schüttelhöfer.
Best greetings,
Herman

Hi Jan,
Firt Merry X-mas.... :-)
A few days ago, I buyed this HJ Fahrtenmesser from a Dutch collector of mainly WW1 items. It's a original dagger, ONLY the gripplates are changed for postwar plates and it has alu rivets. I was directly "in love" about the fine motto.... and buyed it. The scabbard is a early one, whith one "klemmfeder".
During my last visit, last october, at the Gunzenhausen militariashow in Germany, I could buy some original gripplates and I hope, that our same friend Jos can replaced it professionaly.
regards,
Edwin
PS The HJ diamond is original and does "wiggle", but I'm looking forwards, when the rivets are removed, to see if it's a original "Hj-dagger one" or a HJ-pin...!
