I resign as Moderator of the A N L Forum effective Friday Jan 6th '06. Will be leaving the Forum in good hands w/Tom Kendall and my replacement, whoever is chosen to do the job.

Being as honest as I can be, leaving is a result of my attitude about what I see transpiring in the hobby. It is or was a hobby, I thought. When the fun came and went, it became time for me to go, too.

Know that I will stay in touch with the many friends I've come to know over the years as I still love collecting, but thoroughly dislike some aspects of the hobby.

Thanks for all the friendships.
Denny

It is sad to see you go, I just don't understand how we keep losing valuable member, RobM, Mike Hansen, now you Denny, Has PC way over stepped it bounders on GDC I think it has but I plea that you re-think you decision, at least stay an active member, even if it is not a moderator. You bring alot here to the site and I would not let the PC people win.

Althought I hate to see you do this I understand your reasoning. Folks we are losing one of the real authorities on military daggers here. Frown I think others are wrestling with the same types of issues at the present.
Take care;

Denny, I am really shocked reading your decision. I do not know what goes on behind the curtains because I am very far distanced. I only know, regarding our hobby, there sometimes is a cold wind into ones face here in the forum and out there in the collectors world. And sometimes it is very intersting and in few times it is even "sunny".
I respect any decision of you but as you are one of the most valuable and kind and knowledgeable memberes here in the forum I beg you to think over this certain decision.
The hobby is going on, and dos need men like you are. If everybody of you (the true experts) leave there soon will be left no place for us. Buying without any experts advice, without any knowledge what resides in the experts collections, without seeing and appreciate those wonderful pics our collectors world will become small.
Please, Denny, think it over. However your final decision will be I say a heartful thank you to you.

Denny,

You know that I support you in any decision that you make. You have been instrumental in the direction that my own collection has taken over the years, and I will be forever grateful for that. The forum and the collectors to be will sorely miss your expertise, knowledge, and of course your sense of humor that maybe not everyone perceives as well as some of us do. You know that I agree with you on the matters at hand and the direction I am afraid this hobby is taking. Hopefully things will change and once again this will be as much fun as it use to be. Frown

While I have had some differences with Denny, it is too bad that we all loose when one leaves the site. I, too, have been disappointed in the last month and have not posted as much as I did before some bad moments, I will continue to monitor and fight the fight.
Bob Rodger's closing of his site was a complete surprise also. Is this tidings of things to come?

Is this site suffering some internal cancer growth or what? I think this is undoubtably the best site around , with a great bunch of people to boot and add their veiws and advise. If someone out there wouldnt mind putting this in plain english I really would appreciate it.Is there an ego problem, insults, someones expertise, integrity being questioned? Life is a B---- , and there are definitly many more crucial issues to worry about in life. I hope I didnt come on with a dump load of stupid questions, but as time goes on I suspect we will loose are most expert advisors. We should pick up all we can and retain what these guys taught us. Just a piece of my mind, Tiep

Denny,
You certainly stand out among your peers. I respect and admire your vast knowledge and it's your final stamp of approval that I look for. I hope that you will continue to be a part of this forum and impart your valuable knowledge to us new collectors. For me personally, you have made collecting Armies exciting, fun and one of my most enjoyable. Thank you.

Wow, I am sorry to see this. I am new to the hobby and have learned so much from the experts. I shudder to think what will happen if this truly is a trend. Sorry I never got to know you, but I wish you all the best as a fellow hobby enthusiast.

Denny you will be greatly missed as a moderator and leader of this forum. I hope and think from reading your post you will still be around to help out the newer collectors such as myself lets face it you are one of the worlds foremost experts on army daggers. While as Ron said you have had your differences with members I think nobody doubts your expertise in the dagger field so based on that please continue to participate and hob knob with us collectors. Best wishes and hope to see you on the forum.

Denny,

I sincerely hope that your departure as moderator of this forum does not mean you won't continue to be a member of the GDC forum.

It still is a hobby, and there is lots of fun in it.

I have met some of the nicest, fairest, and greatest people on this forum - men that I am honored to call as friends. You are on that list, and I have great respect for you.

Thanks Denny for all of your wisdom (and dry humor) on the Army, Navy, and Luftwaffe forum.

Borse, I dont think some people enjoy the "Hobby" as much as others do anymore.I would think you might see some input from DJR in the future ,at least I hope so. There isnt anywhere else to go is there?

why cant we have some democratic dialogue here? what will it take for Denny to stay? Outside of changing the rules of behavior which we all fully endorse im sure, is there any flexibility to accommodate the best members and contributors that we all rely on regularly, without which this forum would lose most of its value?

Denny, I respect your decision, but its a very sad day for the forum when it loses someone who cares about the hobby. And who has developed the specialized expertise needed to guide collectors in an area that is often filled with traps. You will be very sorely missed. FP Frown

Tiep - I am sure what you say is true for some people, but I refuse to be too cynical. There are some absolutely GREAT people in this hobby. Let me tell you something without mentioning names. I had people on this forum give me Christmas presents who I have known for only a short period of time. I have had people on this forum do all kinds of favors for me, to include help in collecting, rides from hotels to their homes, cards and letters, e-mails, super phone calls, and just plain old friendship.

I used to think there were only "nice guys" in aviation when I first starting flying many years ago. I quickly learned there are jerks and selfish pompass windbags in all walks of life. But unlike your family, you get to choose your friends. The good book says we reap what we sow. I don't know what I ever did to deserve the friendship of some of the good folks here, but I sure as hell am glad I have it.

I have just talked with Denny and I happy to report that he will be staying on with us and moderating.

He said he may just lurk for a while so keep your eye out for him on the list at the bottom of the main page. I suspect that if you post something realy neat in few days, you might temp him out.

Denny has more knowledge on army daggers than most of us combined. It would be a terrible waste to see him go, but I understand where hes coming from. Some people well i better not get into it... I have also seen a steady decline on the websight
