I have this hirschfanger that is unusual in the way the handle is fixed to the blade. The dagger is 14" long and all the fittings are brass except the crossguard which is steel. No maker or any ID.The handle has a large pin too hold the hilt (see pictures( I think it may be German turn of the century but would like other opinions. Thanks.

Zorro,

An old, unique piece to be sure. I've never seen this type of fastening-configuration before, very unusual. I think you're close to the mark regarding the age of this one, possibly even fifteen to twenty years earlier,
too? No matter the exact date of production,
that's quite a novel way of locking things up.

This is a fine example of what can turn up when one collects early hunting and forestry Hirschfnger - you never know what's right around the corner! Wink

Thanks for letting us take a look. Smile

Best!

Bill
