Thanks for posting Paul. It's sad to see these fantastic guys leaving us. I had the priviledge of meeting Tex Hill at the SoS. He had a firm handshake and was sharp as a tack.

It is hard to see these true heroes passing on. Fortunately this gentleman wrote it all down for us.

I am very sad to hear of his passing. A true war hero and roll model for any generation. I will always honor and cherish the letters and other items he sent me. I will proudly show photos on this forum later on this evening.

Robert L. Scott was not actually a member of the American Volunteer Group. He did actually fly some missions with them, but was an AAF officer and after the AVG disbanded he headed up the China Air Task Force which became the 23rd Ftr Grp. I am fortunate enough to have Scott's Chinese 10 star victory medal along with his Chinese Clouds and Banners medal. His medal was number #5, even though his was awarded before the #1 10 star medal which was awarded to AVG pilot George Burgard. There are 3 of those medals known today. AVG pilot Bob Neale was awarded the #2 10 star medal. he actually received his before either Scott or Burgard. Bob Scott will indeed be missed.
