OKCMIKE..know why you don't see any good stock Pre-unit Triumph's anymore ? ..'cause a ton of them were sacrificed for choppers back in the late sixties and early seventies!!! I've had a wack load of them over the years..i once bought a chopper basket case for the engine and found out the mill was the 9th Triumph Bonneville off the line! Blasphemy! Of course, in high school Brit bikes were long past their day, and could be had for $200.00, put another $100.00 into them and we rode them till they blew up.For some reason Matchless was really big in my area, and there was a ton of G-15's around. My most favourite bike was a 1961 TR-6C, bought out of the junkyard for $50.00 bucks, along with a bathtub T-110 basketcase..those were the days..!

Doug- Yep, I was quilty of that myself. Wow, 9th Bonnie. off the line, hope ya put it in an original frame. I always liked Triumph's except for the electrical system, Lucas: Prince of Darkness as it was known back then. Always would liked to have a V.B.S. also, but had to settle for building a model, pictured in photo. Regards- Mike

Pitbull, those are some sharp-looking scoots! Love the Wide-Glide, not really into chops, but if you built it yourself, you should be very proud! I just recently fulfilled a 37 year dream by buying a 2009 Sporty 1200 Low! Regards, Leipzig

Hello All, when I was a senior in high school in 1974, I bought my first bike, a 1973 Honda CL350 "Scrambler". It had the "twisty" pipes that ran up the left-hand side, as opposed to the CB350 that had the down pipes. I really thought I was something until one day at school, a guy I knew comes up and says, I hear you bought a bike, I say yeah, he says me too. I say, whatcha' buy, he says, a brand new 1974 H-D Sporty! Well, my jaw hit the ground, and I've been wanting one ever since. Rode dirt for a while, racing motocross with a '75 RM 125 Suzuki. Quit riding around 1980. Fast forward to 2011, I turned 55 this year and thought, man, I'm half-way to 60! If I don't get me a Sporty now, I never will, I'll be too decrepit! So, in June I fulfilled a 37 year dream and bought a 2009 Sportster 1200 Low, with just a tic over 4000 miles. I always loved the bare-bones, no-frills look of the Sporty's. This thing is a torque-monster, all balls! I only weigh 160 lbs. it does'nt even know I'm on it! No good for touring, but for putting around the back country roads where I live it's a blast! Okay you bikers [not just H-D's] let's get this thread rolling again! Attached are some pics, Regards, Leipzig

Sold my old shovel and bought this 1991 Heritage. It's my fourth Harley and I have been riding for the last 26 years and still loving it.

Thanks Mike... Wrong topic though for my baby.. This is H-D only... Lost all the photos of my Shovels,,,and only have this survivor shot of my Flattie. 45 cubic inch [750cc]. Made from half civilian parts and most internals were from WWII surplus. Still in cosmoline in their original boxes! This was my rough rat for a while,,my chopper, and last was a vintage flat tracker I tried to beat Triumphs on This is its last version,,street tracker. Sold it a year before the flood. IF I would have still had it I was going to move it to a 'safe' garage across town. This 'safe' spot got 3 foot water ,,would have lost it! [showed this before in one of the back pages here]
