Slaskman
Is that an original R71 or a Russian/Chinese manufactured bike?
Nice ride either way....I'm still toying with purchasing a URAL....and so I can ride all year.

On the fork, the frame and taillight you can spot that is russian bike(depner k750-1967) The price are not as high as a set of custompipes for a harley

Thank you NoBoZos. The big twins aren't fast but i like them for their low end torque. It saves my shifter foot from a lot of work.

long range the big twin rules no doubt.. BUT,, around town no H-D can take this thing. Not pretty but functional/super fast!

Gaspare
They don't have to be pretty to qualify for the new ride....lots of people like the chopped look and they prefer function over form...New ride!

You set up a Triumph twin right, and baby, you can flat out move on them..nimble, fairly light..and loads of torque, they just keep on pulling...
Speaking of appreciating, i have a BSA rocket III in the crate (never opened..) as well as a 1967 bonneville, in the crate..both bought at the great Browns liquidation sale..
Think about this..when i was a kid in the early 70's, you could buy Henderson 4's and Excelsiors, Aces, Vincents and any 50's early 60's Brit bike for $50-$300.00 Canadian. No one wanted them.
At the dealership i worked at we had some of the last 1975 Norton Commando electric start interstates for sale..they sat for years..the basement was full of British bikes taken in on trade against newer Japanese models.
I bought 2 T120-C'S a TR6SS and a basket case '59 bonneville from that shop ..i probably payed no more than $1000.00 for all..now, they want 5x that just for a parted out basket case!

As all these in this topic,,,keep them coming..
We are doing a custom Triumph chopper for a customer. Motor completely worked, big bore kit, cams, carbs etc.. Frame is an old 1970s 'Amen Savior Ass' soft tail.. This is just the very early mock up phase,,plenty to go..

Howdy. Been riding since 1962. Had a 1948 Harley Hummer. Later on, I bought a 1963 Panhead and had it from 1970 till 1981, 1972 Shovehhead FLH, till '89, 1976 FLH till '96, and now I got 2 '76 Sportsters and a late 70's FLH type with a mid 90's Evo motor. Hand-built it myself on a Paughco frame. Hakan, I see that you, too, like Harley's version of the Totenkopt, and that you, too, are an 81 supporter Gaspare, thats a nice 45. I had a bunch of them back in the 70's Vicdiehl, your Dad's bike is a 1930's Harley VL. I now own a bike shop called Shelby County Customs and we build the Orange County type bikes but not nearly as radical or expensive! Someday, I will figger out how to put some photos on this thing Billy

As the Evo motors are starting to get older and beat I'm doing more and more motor work on them..Don't like them,,mainly because poor hardware, poor component materials, and a few 'engineering problems' [oil breather vent into Carb aircleaner?!]..But once sorted out they do run good and leak very little oil! ... anyway,,,The H-D dealer around by me gets $90. an hour last time I checked,,and almost double on some of the same parts I offer to my customers..So all the smaller shops that do good work around have been doing very well the last few years.... NoBoZos,,,last week we did a 1991 Sportster,,put in a Andrews cam set,,Wiesco BigBore to 1200,,Carb kit/ mods.,complete ignition system, new pushrods, and a complete rebuilt head with all new components [Andrews & Black Diamond],all fluids changed,,*Total price parts and labor was not over $3500... Whats something like that go for in any of your guys neck of the woods?? , thanks , G.

Hi Gaspare
I believe my HD dealer does the conversion for about 1500.00...that's just for the jugs and pistons....and labour..I've seriously considered the 1250cc kit from NRHS...Axtell jugs and NRHS Hurricane forged pistons....brings the compression up to 10.5:1 with stock 883 heads.. I have already put on an SE ignition and coil, SEII+ pipes, and NRHS Hurricane Flow AC and a head breather kit....I'll probably upgrade the ignition and look at either installing SE heads or polished and ported Buell XB heads... Sure sounds like you guys do some really nice work there...
