That's something I have not seen before. It is interesting how it closely resembled the typical police visor insignia!

saw this on another site.. I'm going to still stick to my feeling [taking that it is an original piece] that it is for some type of Slovakian Volksdeutsche cap insignia.. ,G.

Gaspare, I believe you're running on the right track,- the eagle does highly resemble the Slovak cap eagle holding the shield in Vol.3, Littlejohn's "Foreign Legions of the 3dReich", except that in the shield shown in this book, is the Slovak national emblem of the Eastern Orthodox cross standing on a mound. The eagle also has similarity to the cloth Slovak sleeve? eagle insignia embroidered with a grey eagle holding the shield with swastika, on brown wool.

I tend to lean toward Gaspare's answer. The Slovak NS Party Flag was a swastika in a white shield with red background, same as NSDAP, but with shield in place of disk. In any case it looks original and must be quite rare. Neat insignia. Marcus
