I'd first of all like to add my thanks to Vern and Dave for their support and enthusiasm in creating this new forum. The history and artifacts of the German paratroops have been an interest of mine for almost 30 years, and it's great to have a place like this where we can talk about them. I'm also really pleased to be joined in this project by my long-time friend and collecting colleague, Eric Queen. "Horrido!" was the cry of the Fallschirmjäger (like "Geronimo!" or "Currahee!" for US paratroopers) and it means something like, "Good Hunting!" That seems like a perfect cheer for launching this forum. I'm looking forward to some interesting discussions!

Just some background on the word Horrido. It is an old greeting/hunting call which was used in the hunter language (Waidmannsspache) While this could have been used for paratroops it is more commonly used by Luftwaffe pilots from 1944 and onwards when calling in a voice transmission after a sucsessful firing. Prior to 1944 the voice transmission would have been the Hitler greeting. It is also the title of the book Horrido by Raymond Constibule on Luftwaffe aces.
