HJ knives with saw tooth blades are not original.

TW had a WKC transitional HJ at one of the first MAx shows, with a sawback blade, made in the typical WKC wide tooth form.It was stated that this was vet acquired by himself..

Hi guys. My first dagger than I have in my little collection is a HJ Dagger by puma with motto that has the tooth saw. I know the dagger is 100% legit as my grandad gave it to be and that is the first dagger that got me started in this hobby. I,m not sure if it was put on in the factory or the kid put it on after purchase but the dagger was in this state when he returned it to new zealand in 1946. rgds pete

It would be interesting to see the knife from thor62 to see if it is an original knife with a sawblade added. I don't believe these are known to have issued during the period. I think it quite possible originals may have been embellished postwar while on occupation, or perhaps after returning home.
Pete, welcome to the forum. It would be most interesting to see your early Puma with motto and sawblade - could you please post some pics? Are you in NZ?
Regards Russell

Yes--Let's see the photo. I have never seen an original with added sawteeth-all I have seen are 100% fake. They first appeared almost 40 years ago and some were probably German scout knives made in Germany with scout emblems removed and HJ insignia added-- so they are old now. Sometimes a real scabbard is added-stag grips, motto, etc. Things that vets have are not always period.

Thanks for posting pics, Russell.
I cannot see the scabbard front rivet on pic 1...
Are there any close-ups of the blade, mark and grips availeble?
Best greetings,

I asked Pete for some closer pics of a few key areas, which I've just received. I'll put them up shortly.

IMO--Old repro as I said before. Seam on cross guard kills it. No scabbard rivet and maybe no springs. TM does not look right either.

Thanks Houston for input and Ruski for posting pics for me. I allways thought it was orginal as the scabard is magnetic and the diamond has a bit of a wiggle etc. Grandad gave it to me so it wasn,t a hit to the $ dollars in the pocket. Thanks to all pete
